Skateboarders who are keen to try out the new 'skate plaza' at the Jubilee play park re-development in Tenby, have been told to hold off for the moment, as the scheme isn't quite complete.
The 'rebuild' of the play park overlooking the South Beach, is due to be opened officially within the next few weeks, with everything virtually in position for Pembrokeshire County Council to carry out final inspections at the site.
However, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night that the recent bad weather had caused a bit of a problem and a delay in part of the floor setting properly, and skaters who were going on the site before it is complete were not helping.
"The play park is progressing to a conclusion, but there is an issue with the floor and until this is resolved, the county council won't sign off the site for public use," explained Mr. Davies.
"Skaters are currently going in and using the site before it's ready and we're having to turf them off at the moment. The police are monitoring the site and have put up 'do not enter' tape around the area, but the skaters have been ignoring this.
"They must be aware that the site is not safe at the moment and is still a construction area, so anyone who was to get injured would not be covered by any insurance.
"We appreciate that they've had to wait a long time and are eager to use the site, but if the skaters could hold off for just a little longer and be a little more patient, then that would be a great help," continued Mr. Davies.
