Once again, thanks to the generosity of the public, Tenby fund-raising committee collected £3,144.70 during Flag Week which ran from August 2 to 7 this year (writes D.M.) We also made £154.20 on the stall in Tudor Square on Flag Day itself. This brought us a grand total of £3,298.90.

We were outside Sainsbury's for the whole week. Our thanks go to Mr. Alan Davies, our store manager, for allowing us to collect there. The total was £1,002.12. The staff made us most welcome and Sainsbury's customers were extremely generous.

We also collected outside the Mini Mart in New Hedges on Flag Day itself. Ruth and Matt Goldwait made us most welcome and our collection there was £318.12, up on last year. Siriol Roberts collected £215.12 in the morning and Janet Thomas collected £103 in the afternoon.

Father Daniel van Saantvoort, Abbot of Caldey, gave us permission to collect on the island for a fortnight. The boats went every day, bar one, and although the weather was changeable, our collection there increased this year reaching £1,014.94.

The committee would like to thank everyone for making us welcome, the Abbott for allowing us to raise funds on the island, Ben Childs for all his help, and Suzanne Bolton, who as usual kept all gear for us. We must not forget the boatmen who ferry us across free of charge. We really appreciate their generosity in doing this.

The individual box collections were as follows: Outside Tesco Express with the co-operation of Mr. Richard Davies, the manager of the store, Jenny Deverson £32.02; Jan Griffiths £28.59 and Doreen Mortimer £42.30, a total of £102.91. Mrs. Sue James £99.95; Mr. David Rees £101.74 (£52.60 from the Giltar Hotel and £49.14 from Clarence House Hotel). Mr. David Williams £294.25; Miss Doreen Mortimer £92.73 and Mrs. Doreen Emmerson and Jean Shipley £13.52. The Tudor Square Stall was organised by Norah and Arthur Squibbs and with their helpers £50.05 was put in the collection box and £154.20 was taken for goods sold on the stall.

We would like to thank all volunteers, including those who collect on Caldey Island and outside Sainsbury's. They are very dedicated and are much appreciated. Most importantly we wish to thank all those members of the public who gave so generously, showing how much they appreciate the work of the RNLI, our lifeboatmen and women and the lifeguards who are on our beaches in the summer.
