AN open evening for local and family history enthusiasts will be held at the County Library in Haverfordwest in May.

The evening is aimed at enthusiasts researching their family tree or the history of their local areas.

Following a talk by Pembrokeshire County Council's local and family history librarian, George Edwards, enthusiasts will have a chance to explore items of interest within the library and to conduct research.

Help and advice will be provided by library staff.

The open evening will be held in the reference and local studies section on the first floor of the library on Wednesday, May 18, between 6 and 8 pm.

The reference and local studies library is the main local studies library in the county and provides plenty of sources for history enthusiasts.

Its collections include a wide range of local interest and family history books, journals, newspapers, photographs, censuses, maps and much more.

Places at the event are limited and are offered on a first-come first-served basis.
