Llawhaden Castle at 7 pm on Sunday, August 5, is the place to 'meet again' for the Wales Actors' Company's 2001 production of Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'.
This brooding story of ruthless ambition, obsession and horror works wonderfully well in the open air, as the dark and the chill fall over the castle stones and the jackdaws come almost to rest amongst the actors.
The production plays directly to the audience, with a raw energy and infectious enthusiasm, a pared down text and a stark visual clarity. What this company is good at is making the audience feel part of the action - so that Banquo's ghost can literally rise up beside you.
There is a focus on the complex relationship between Macbeth (played by director Paul Garnault) and Lady Macbeth (Andrea Harvey), and on the sense of mischief created by the three witches. The remaining six members of the cast play all the other parts - Abigail Hopkins playing a Malcolm to remember.
The company, with its unique brand of inventive open-air theatre, attracts an audience each summer of 10,000 people across Wales - so come and be spell-bound!
Limited seating is provided, but it is also advisable to bring a rug to sit on. Some refreshments will be available, or bring a picnic. The performance goes ahead whatever the weather, so come prepared!
Tickets are £8 (adult); £6 (children and senior citizens). Bookings (and further information) on (01646) 672890. Tickets are also available via the internet at http://www.allen-drake.com">www.allen-drake.com or in person on the night. Gates open at 6.30 pm.
