Lamphey School Sports was a great success this year, even though the event had been postponed several times due to the bad weather.

The sports were a very special affair, as the Olympic torch which was carried in Carmarthen by Mrs. Olga Phelps was on show. The special torch bearer for the day was Mr. Nick Allen, who will be leaving Lamphey Primary School at the end of the summer term to start his new headship at Hook CP School in the autumn.

The pupils all enjoyed the sports, with Barlow House winning the infant section and Windsor House winning the junior section. The overall champions for 2012 were Windsor House.

"The sports this year was great fun and all the children enjoyed the races. One of the funniest races was the parents' race in which Mr. Allen was disqualified!" said Windsor Houe captain Megan.

"The Torch being carried at the opening of the school sports was a fitting conclusion to the work that all the pupils had been undertaking on the Olympics. I am sure that this experience will give the pupils a better understanding of the games in London," added headmaster Mr. Simon Thomas.
