Hook History Society is staging a coffee morning with a difference. On September 24 they are holding a coffee morning in the village Sports Club when people with interesting photographs or memorabilia can come along and have their pictures scanned while they enjoy a coffee and, perhaps a piece of cake!.
The pictures will then be considered for inclusion in the DVD - The Black Diamond Village - which is in the course of production.
Said a spokesman for the society: "People are loathe to part with precious pictures so we will digitally scan them while the owners have a coffee and then they can take the pictures home with them. We need pictures which illustrate life as it was in bygone days; perhaps, of the famous coal mining industry; compass fishing or simply illustrating the rapidly changing social scene. The wider the choice we have the easier production of the DVD will be."
A newsletter explaining the idea behind the event has been widely distributed throughout the village and the project is being financed by a £3,500 grant from the Lottery Fund's Sharing Heritage Scheme.
