A special presentation took place recently in the grounds of Pembroke Castle when Phil Thompson, on behalf of Texaco, donated a substantial cheque to the Pembroke Festival. The third festival will take place for 10 days from September 2 and promises an exciting melange of music, drama, art, and dance. "The festival grows in stature each year and we wish it the best of luck," said Phil. The main venue will be in Pembroke Castle. Soul music will feature on the opening evening and the last event will be a torchlight parade through the town, followed by a firework display. Fund-raiser for the festival David Hughes said that plans were already well advanced for the Welsh Celtic Fiddle Competition that would be preceded by a weekend of fiddle workshops at the Stackpole Centre. The competition, whilst only in its second year, seems certain to become one of national importance.

Phil Thompson (Texaco), David Hughes (fund-raiser for the festival), Jan Hughes (press secretary) and Ian MacDowel (music co-ordinator) are pictured at the cheque presentation in the castle grounds.
