Two years after withdrawing from the league, St. Florence football team has been reborn, with help from Chevron, Pembroke. The team was forced to withdraw from the league two season ago due to shortage of both senior and junior players. But with the sponsorship from Chevron of new strip, and the purchase of new nets, balls and even goal posts, the team has been reborn under the guidance of Martin Farley, Steve Wilkins and Jamie Roberts, who form the coaching team. Tommy Roberts is the new chairman and Adam Roberts the secretary, who not only does the paperwork, but marks the pitch (with the help of brother Jamie) cleans the kit, makes the orange juice and even sends in the match reports. The whole team is committed to the new St. Florence side and everyone mucks in to help maintain the changing rooms and pitch; and the chairman's wife, Anne, even feeds the teams on a Saturday. Fund-raising during the summer and the involvement of the community has not only helped the team, but raised community spirit within the village, with the result that the team has been accepted back into the league.
