Tenby's former Guildhall, recently home to the town's magistrates court, has been put on the market by Pembrokeshire County Council. The building, along with Glendower House and the former Ocean's Haze cafe, is up for sale by informal tender. The council is asking for offers in excess of £800,000 for the whole site. Meanwhile, the future of Saundersfoot's dilapidated Barbecue building appears to have been decided. The village's community council have agreed to lease the harbourside building from owners, Pembrokeshire County Council, at a peppercorn rent. They will also then be responsible for refurbishing the former coal office. As previously reported, the council had hoped to acquire the property and turn it into a heritage centre with a view to preserving the industrial history of the area, but as yet, firm plans on its use have not been decided. "It was proposed by Clr. Mrs. Rosemary Hayes and seconded by Clr. Mrs. Mary Cavell, that the council lease the building on a peppercorn rent," said council clerk, Mr. John Griffiths. "However, the decision is subject to certain clauses in the lease being clarified," he added. One is whether or not there is a time limit on the refurbishment taking place, and the other is, if after two or three years the venture is not proving viable, can the council hand the building back to the local authority. The decision is also subject to a business plan being drawn up with the help and advice of PLANED.
