MR. IVOR MORGAN JONES Jeffreyston
The funeral took place on Saturday, May 3, at Holyrood and St. Teilo's RC Church, Tenby, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Mr. Ivor Morgan Jones, who passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on Friday, April 25. The officiating priest and close family friend was Father Owen McGreal. He will be sadly missed by Domenica (partner), Lorenzo (son), John and Mary (father and mother), David and Christine, Colin and Debbie (brothers and sisters-in-law), Angelo and Mary (father-in-law and mother-in-law), Angela, Mario and Sara, Dina and Roy, Maria and Vivian, Giuseppe and Sian, Giulio and Tina (brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law), together with nephews and nieces. Bearers were: Lorenzo Fecci (son), David and Colin Jones (brothers), John Hart (ambulance partner of some 10 years), Andrew Watkins (neighbour and close friend) and Charlie Little (close friend and gardening buddie). A native of Fife, Scotland, Ivor moved to Pembrokeshire with his parents and two brothers at the age of eight, where he attended Loveston and Greenhill schools, respectively. Coming from a farming background, he was brought up to be a hard working man who would never shy away from any duties that came his way. On leaving school, Ivor took up an apprenticeship position with Dyfed Engineering, St. Clears, during which time he attended Pibwrlwyd College, Carmarthen, where he gained his City and Guilds in Agricultural Engineering. Between 1980 and 1982 he worked for Silcox Motor Coach Company, Pembroke Dock, as a fitter and driver. It was at this time that he met his partner Domenica. In 1982/83, Ivor joined the then Pembrokeshire Ambulance service where he spent some 10 years as a front line ambulance man before moving on to serve another seven years as ambulance control officer based in Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. In 1989, Ivor also became self-employed when he and his partner Domenica purchased Fecci's Ice Cream Parlour in St. George Street, Tenby. During some 15 years in the Ice Cream Parlour, Ivor and Domenica built and moved to their current home in Jeffreyston. It was here that Ivor was finally allowed to indulge in his numerous hobbies and interests. He was always a very active man and loved to spend hours working in the gardens growing his own vegetables etc. He was a keen DIY man, fisherman and whenever the weather was really against him, Ivor could always be found in his workshop at home building some contraption or other from someone else's cast-off bits and pieces. More recently, Ivor also took up part-time employment with Pembrokeshire County Council as a relief driver to the various Avenues and Day Care Centres in the area; a post he thoroughly enjoyed until his recent passing. There were immediate family flowers only, but donations in lieu, if so desired, may be made for the Avenue Centre, Tenby and The Lee Davies Day Centre, Bloomfield, Narberth, c/o E. C.
