TWO years ago, Tenby's Park House Court Nursing Home was audited by Swansea University School of Nursing as a placement centre for both general and psychiatric student nurses. Nurses come to the home on placement, gaining experience in elderly, palliative and dementia care. This has led to the home being accepted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a centre for overseas nurses to complete a period of supervised practice, which enables these nurses to gain their PIN number which is required by all nurses to work in this country. Over the past two years, eight overseas nurses from Africa and India have completed their course at Park House Court. Among the latest group was Jeena Jacob, who is now working as an E Grade Theatre Nurse at the Ratcliffe Hospital in Oxford. She keeps in touch with the home and says she has already taken part in a variety of surgery, including a life-saving liver transplant. "Here at Park House Court the 'family' that the home has become is pleased to hear of such success," said a spokesperson.
