At Tuesday night's meeting of the council, she informed members of the Telephone Preference Scheme (tel. 08450700707) which will stop such calls. "Calls from companies wanting to sell you things are a nuisance and can be particularly frightening for the elderly," she said. "Telephoning this company and pressing a few buttons will stop these sort of companies being given your number," added Clr. Rees, who volunteered to make the telephone call on behalf of elderly residents unable to do so themselves.
