Sir,
A lot of arguments have been recently published regarding the proposed recycling facility adjacent to Brooklands Nursing Home. I would like to raise my own opinion regarding this and reiterate some of the concerns already raised.
I think it is a ludicrous position for a recycling facility with traffic having to cross a major highway that is the gateway to Saundersfoot and Tenby. There will no doubt be countless accidents and near misses if the proposal to site the recycling facility in this location is approved. I also believe it will not be the most welcoming sight for holidaymakers visiting the area, as their first impression of the area will be a refuse centre.
We already have establishments that are boarded up, demolished or derelict and a multi-storey car park that goes no way to enhance the area and people with pushchairs or wheelchairs having to take their life in their hands, negotiating the ramps in the face of oncoming traffic.
The area is meant to be a holiday resort, but all we seem to be doing in recent years is testing the patience of visitors. Without the weather, Pembrokeshire relies on private enterprises to keep the holiday industry thriving, while the local council seems to be attempting to scupper their attempts at every turn.
If the recycling facility should be located anywhere, it should be out of view, have easy access, possibly from a roundabout, and away from public and commercial properties.
