Tenby's North Beach promenade is to be closed for safety reasons while work starts on Monday on a parking area for sailing dinghies.

Popularly known as North Walk, it will be closed for safety reasons at some point during the contract.

The work involves the construction of a 1.5 metre high reinforced concrete retaining wall, 120 metres long and parallel to the existing sea wall.

An upper level will be created for the parking of dinghies, together with an access track.

The lower level will be retained as a promenade.

Access to the North Beach at low tide will not be affected.
