Norman Industries in Haverfordwest have been recognised for their commitment and support for carers and their families.
They have achieved their Investors in Carers Bronze Level award - a scheme designed to help organisations improve their carer awareness and enhance the support they give carers.
The initiative is delivered by Hywel Dda University Health Board and supported by its local authority partners in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
“A carer is someone, of any age, who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help,” said Joy James, carers strategy co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire County Council.
“This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems. Anyone can become a carer. In most cases becoming a carer is not out of choice.”
Clr. Mike James, Pembrokeshire County Council’s carers champion, said Norman Industries had demonstrated through evidence their commitment to carers.
“It is important that we recognise what carers do on a daily basis for their loved ones who rely on them and I am very pleased and proud that Norman Industries are showing such commitment,” he said.
Carer lead for Norman Industries, Meuryn Jenkins said he had really enjoyed taking part in the Investors in Carers scheme.
“I have had lots of support from the operations managers and also Karen Davies, the project manager,” he said. “I have enjoyed learning more about carers and the support that they can access”.
Julie Campbell, Investors in Carers development officer for Pembrokeshire, added: “It has been a pleasure to work with Meuryn.
“He has worked very hard to produce an excellent folder of evidence - the assessors said that his enthusiasm shone from the pages.”
