There will be no election to fill two vacancies on Tenby Town Council, as only one person had put their name forward!

The town clerk told members at their meeting on Tuesday night that the North Ward would be uncontested as only one candidate, Mr. David Thomas Morgan, of Serpentine Road, had applied to fill the position, while no one had shown interest in the South Ward.

"I'll write to Mr. Morgan to inform him, while we will now be able to co-opt a member onto the South Ward," said the clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown felt that it was a sorry state of affairs that hardly anyone had shown an interest.

"The people of the town are quick to criticise us and write letters giving us councillors flak, but where are they when the town needs them.

"I congratulate the one person who was prepared to put their name forward and work for the good of the town," she said.
