Whitland could not complain about the result after they went down to unbeaten Llanharan by 23 points to 10 on Saturday.

Llanharan opened the scoring in the 14th minute through centre David Atkins after a good run by winger Richard Radford.

This was converted by fullback Mark Davies, who increased their lead in the 34th minute with a well-taken penalty.

Whitland did get on the scoreboard in the 37th minute with an Aled Davies penalty, which left the half-time score 10 points to three to Llanharan.

Early in the second half, ex-Whitland hooker Richard Emms scored a try for Llanharan from a well worked move at the lineout, Mark Davies failing with the conversion.

Whitland were awarded a penalty try with 12 minutes remaining, which Aled Davies converted, to bring the score back to 15 points to 10 for Llanharan.

Although the avid Whitland supporter might have felt that the Borderers could pinch the game, with the lack of lineout ball - although they dominated the scrummage - Llanharan were always going to prove too strong and with their captain, Mark Roper, calling the shots at number 10 and getting his backs running at every opportunity, even with the heavy conditions underfoot, they deserved their victory.

After 39 minutes, their lively scrum-half Aled Lake picked up a loose ball on Whitland's 10 metre line to sprint to the corner to score.

Mark Davies added a late penalty to leave the full-time score 23 points to 10 to the Dairymen.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland travel away to top-of-the-table Maesteg, to face the other unbeaten side in the league, with a 2.30pm kick-off.
