Sir,
Re. Tenby MIU.
The apparent lack of engagement from the local general practitioners is of great concern to me.
The full involvement of the local GPs in the process of change is key if there is to be a successful outcome to this issue.
I have written to Hywel Dda's freedom of information officer requesting an explanation of the outlining terms of contract set out by the Health Board when GPs are contracted to practice in local surgeries.
I am also interested to know and have asked if the medical training of senior general practitioners has been paid for at public expense.
The people of Tenby and the surrounding area are not being provided with a clear explanation of what minor injuries provision will be in place at the conclusion of this process.
This is an appalling way to conduct such an important revision in public health facilities which in turn raises significant doubt about the whole management and decision making process within the Hywel Dda Health Board and its plans to close the MIU at Tenby.
Jonathan Preston,
County Councillor,
Penally and New Hedges.
