Despite their planned expenditure budget being slightly higher than last year, Tenby Town Council announced this week that there would be no change in the town precept for 2014/15, with the Band D equivalent levy remaining at £56.77.

Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the council, the clerk and financial officer, Mr. Andrew Davies, explained that the total planned expenditure budget was £2,053.61 higher than last year, with savings made in staff restructuring being offset by budgetary inclusions to mitigate for any potential reduction in Unitary Authority provision.

"This gives a precept requirement of £149,422.61, an increase of £1,489.61, or just over one per cent on last year, which is well below inflation," wrote Mr. Davies in his budget summary report.

"However, with an upward revision to the Council Tax base this year, if the precept requirement is accepted without revision, the Band D equivalent precept levy will remain at £56.77," he added.
