The next Carmarthen Antiques and Flea Market, already regarded as South Wales’ biggest antiques event, is predicted to be the biggest and best of the year so far when it takes place at Carmarthen Showground on Sunday, October 29.
Find hidden treasures around every corner, with over 100 stands inside and many, many, more outside. From Welsh country furniture to agricultural items, rare and unusual decorative pieces, military items, toys and ceramics as well as vintage jewellery and clothes, it’s the place to shop.
Attracting antiques dealers and collectors from as far away as the West Country, the event is more popular than ever before.
Fair organiser Robert Pugh explains why: “There are a number of antiques events across the region but none match up to the Carmarthen Antiques and Flea in terms of their size or the quality and range of exhibitors. Whether you’re a serious collector of Welsh art or ceramics or you’re looking for quirky vintage furniture to upcycle, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for and more!”
He went on to say: “We’ve had more exhibitors book for the October 29 fair than any other this year so far. Many are established exhibitors who’ve been coming to the event for years and who have quite a following in their own right. Others are new and will be looking to make a name for themselves with an impressive collection of antiques and vintage items for sale.”
Amongst many of the more interesting pieces to be sold is a beautiful patchwork quilt made in around 1910. It’s probably made its way to Carmarthen from America. Being of such excellent quality and suited to either a contemporary or more traditional home it will be snapped up pretty quickly.
Or what about an Edwardian kitchen scales? An example to be sold at the Fair comes complete with all its weights and a lovely ceramic plate printed with the makers details: J. D. Jewitt & Sons, Emlyn Street Newport - Scale makers, butchers, grocers and dairymen’s outfitters.
Meanwhile, the team from Emlyn Antiques are offering a fantastic vintage pond yacht with its original paint and sails, made some time in the 1930s, it’s every little boys dream! And a life size plaster bust of the Duke of Wellington will certainly turn some heads!
The Carmarthen Antiques and Flea Market, runs between 10 am and 4 pm on Sunday, October 29. Admission is £4 for adults, with accompanied children admitted free of charge. Well behaved dogs kept on a lead are welcome.
The remaining calendar of dates for the Carmarthen Antiques and Flea Market in 2017 is, Sunday, October 29, Sunday, November 26, and Thursday, December 28.
