Twelve Year 11 students took part in their Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition at the weekend (Saturday-Monday, July 15-17) in Mid Wales. The two groups successfully completed a 48km walk over three days, camping for two nights, carrying all that they would need. To achieve the award the students have to complete a diary over the year that includes evidence of skills, community involvement and physical activity, their achievements culminating in their final expedition to receive their certificate and badges. Hopefully these students will now attempt their Gold award while studying for their A-Levels. Any students in Year 10 who wish to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme - Bronze Award should speak to Ms Unwin (geography department) as soon as the new school year starts to register and start their schedule.
