On Sunday, 23 January, two Year 7 girls, Miranda Davies and Sarah Giffard, competed in the National Inter-Counties Cross-Country championships at Bute Park Cardiff. The girls (pictured) were selected for the Dyfed team after consistent successes in the Pembrokeshire League throughout the autumn term. The successes achieved at local level were to be tested to the full, in what turned out to be an International event, with teams from Northern Ireland and Scotland. Miranda finished 60th and Sarah 90th from a field of over 220 runners, so well done both athletes for the commitment they have shown in cross-country so far this season.
TSUNAMI APPEAL
After several meetings and discussions, Greenhill hasdecided how they are going to contribute to this appeal for funds. The following is a summary of what they want to do and how fund-raising will be organised. All the money the school collects will be paid in to Mr. Paul Cowper's 'START' Fund. This will be earmarked to assist schools in the Tangalle area to rebuild and re-equip. "Our intention is to set-up a long-term relationship with these schools, which we hope will extend beyond the period of immediate reconstruction," said a spokesman at Greenhill. "A number of fund-raising events are planned for school next week, bazaars, a Valentines Delivery Service and a disco for Years 7 and 8," the spokesman continued. "Friday, February 11, will be our major fund-raising day and this will be a non-uniform day, with other activities planned but lessons will continue as normal. Please read the letter that will be sent home. "We need your help; we hope to raise a significant amount of money next week. Donations will be readily accepted, every penny will be paid to 'START'. Please encourage your child to give us your support."
