Ysgol Dyffryn Taf has raised £1,206 towards the Urdd Eisteddfod Appeal 2007. The Whitland and Henllanfallteg Committee has a target to raise £4,000 towards the 2007 Eisteddfod, which is to be held in Carmarthenshire. The school therefore has made a significant contribution towards meeting this target. An 'own clothes' day was held at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf to raise money as well as awareness about the 2007 Eisteddfod. Mr. Huw Jones met with Mr. Robert Newsome, headteacher at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, to accept the cheque on behalf of the Whitland and Henllanfallteg Committee.

NEW SHIRTS CHRISTENED WITH A VICTORY

Dyffryn Taf's 1st XV rugby team have finally received new shirts after a long period of games playing in a mismatch of strips. The last time new shirts were bought by the team was during their hugely successful rugby tour to Canada. However, many of the players have now moved on, and the up-and-coming Year 11 participants were left with what they could bring together. The team christened their new strip with a close victory over Queen Elizabeth High School from Carmarthen. Dyffryn Taf went 7-0 down in the first half, but managed to claw back six points with two kicks from fly-half Daniel Newton, and after another and a drop goal from the Llanelli Scarlets under 17s player, the victory was sealed with a late try in the corner from Robert Webb. The QE High School's defence fared very well, with most of the second half being dominated by Dyffryn Taf. Nevertheless, it slipped away from them after a scrum was won by the Dyffryn Taf pack, and the back line opened up, allowing Webb to cruise through to the line. The final score: Dyffryn Taf 1st XV 17 Queen Elizabeth High School 1st XV 7.
