Year 6 at Tenby Junior School have certainly had a busy end of year.
Last week they performed 'Oliver', with every Year 6 pupil playing a role in this famous musical. Both family and friends enjoyed a wonderful performance on two nights, with plenty of laughter and singing.
Congratulations to the children who had worked hard to produce an entertaining show with some excellent acting and wonderful singing. A special thanks to all the parents, Roland Grigg, of Griggles, and Ian Thomas, of Clarices, who helped out with many of the costumes and props for the show. Thank you also to Bruce who helped out with the lighting and sound, and Penally Village Hall for the loan of their stages. This week, the children celebrated their time at Tenby Junior School with a prize-giving afternoon followed by a prom.
In the afternoon, children were presented with trophies, certificates and Records of Achievement as a lasting memory of their time in the school. Mrs. Llewellyn welcomed governors, parents and friends in the celebration of the success Year 6 had achieved over the year, including the best results for a Year 6 class, with 93 per cent gaining a level 4 and above in the core subject areas, as well as the MAT group in passing their Foundation GCSE in Maths.
Dave Ainsworth, who presented the prize-winners with their trophies, spoke highly of the school, congratulating the children on all they had achieved and their many talents.
Ella Brindley and Charles Stewart-Walvin, the school ambassadors, gave an excellent speech on behalf of all Year 6, paying tribute to all the staff and highlighting the events they had participated in over the last year. The PTA very kindly presented the children with a 'Class of 2008' t-shirt as a goodbye gift, with thanks to T's R Us for sponsoring them. The children then returned to school in the evening to their prom, all dressed up! The boys in tuxedos and the girls in their ball gowns, all looking extremely smart!
They arrived in all forms of transport, including limousines, a truck and motorbike!
They enjoyed a wonderful buffet, kindly produced by Fiona and Lisa, the entertainment by Bongo Clive had the children dancing all night, as well as the staff. Thanks go to the PTA for all their hard work in making the night a success, and certainly a night the children will cherish. Prize day winners:
