CRICKET

On June 13, Tenby Junior School A team played a cricket match against Sageston in the Tenby Area Section (writes team captain Ben Edwards).

We bowled very well, but our batting was not so good, so I think we need a bit of practice to make us get more runs. The final score was 201-191.

We won, so that meant that we were through to the Pembrokeshire finals. Both teams played very well.

The team was Ben Edwards (capt.), Chris Heesom, Will Hughes, James Criddle, Matthew Davies, Declan Sharma, Lloyd Thomas, Ianto Griffiths, Joanna Rowe and Sophie John.

Next was the Pembrokeshire finals. Our first game was against Neyland, and first up to bat were Toby and James Criddle. They gave us a good start and the rest of the team batted well too. We finished up with 285 runs.

Now it was Neyland's turn to bat. Toby and James bowled well. They only conceded 10 runs altogether. That gave the team a jump start and that meant that we won by six runs.

The game ended and the score was 279 runs to 285 runs; it was a very close match.

Our next match was against Croesgoch. We beat them by 14 runs. We bowled extremely well, but out batting was not so good. We still won the game anyway.

Our next and last game was against Lamphey. We beat them by 39 runs, and this time we batted extremely well, and our bowling was still up to scratch. All of the teams played very well, but we were the far better team.

The team was Ben Edwards, Chris Heesom, Toby Smith, James Criddle, William Hughes, Lloyd Thomas, Ianto Griffiths, Matthew Davies, Chantelle Johnson and Sophie John.

The team qualified for the West Wales finals, but unfortunately were unable to compete as they were on a residential visit to Pembrokeshire Watersports.
