It has been a busy start to the New Year for pupils at St. Oswald's School. The football and netball terms enjoyed a busy afternoon with pupils from St. Florence School. The football matches produced positive results for the visiting teams, while the netball matches resulted in a draw, with 18 goals being scored between the two teams! Pupils throughout the school also took part in the RNLI Save a Soul day by wearing 'soles' in the form of trainers. The school organised a competition for pupils to 'design a trainer'. RNLI representative, Mr. Fred Broomhead attended a special assembly, organised by pupils in Class 4, which was based upon the work of the rescue service. Pupils were able to present Mr. Broomhead with a cheque for £75. A small group of pupils enjoyed the opportunity of choosing Christian books for the school as the result of the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Hesslegrave, of Jeffreyston Grange. The Friends of St. Oswald's organised a very successful 'Ladies Night' at the school. Light refreshments throughout the evening were provided by Mrs. Copley and Mrs. Parry, while Friends and visitors were able to circulate around the school, trying and observing a variety of treatments and relaxing herbal therapies. A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part and gave up their time and to those who organised such a busy evening.
