Plaid Cymru’s leader has praised those on the front line of public services in his Christmas message.
The Plaid Cymru leader also reaffirmed his and his party’s commitment for peace, and said that in an time of global instability and war, that there was a “shared duty” on all to “advocate for peace”.
Reflecting on the year, Mr ap Iorwerth reaffirmed Plaid Cymru’s commitment to building a fairer, more prosperous, and more resilient Wales for all as the Senedd elections approaches on 7 May, 2026.
Plaid Cymru Leader Rhun ap Iorwerth said:“With the festive season well underway, let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
“Christmas is a time to unwind in the company of friends and family, but we must also recognise that for some it can be a lonely time of year whilst for others it means continuing to work tirelessly on the front line of our public services.
“Further afield, this year has been yet another painful reminder of global instability, with many across the world continuing to face oppression and persecution.
“As wars continue to rage, we’re reminded of our shared duty to advocate for peace.
Rhun ap Iorwerth added: “Politically, 2025 has been the year that Wales was shortchanged by Labour. Keir Starmer has undermined devolution and Eluned Morgan has been too weak to stand up to him.
“Meanwhile, other forces entering our politics seek to divide and deceive us at every turn.
“But as October’s sensational result in Caerphilly proved, hope beats hate and vision trumps division every time.
“As 2026 approaches, a significant year in Welsh politics, Plaid Cymru looks forward to working with you and for you to deliver the new leadership that Wales desperately needs, and to create a fairer, more prosperous nation for all.
“Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.”
