On Wednesday, January 28, Saundersfoot CP School received an exciting visit from the Commissioner for Dyfyd Powys Police, Christopher Salmon.

Commissioner Salmon was given a tour of the school by the school ambassadors, Holly Bonnar and Aryan Kawale, and was closely followed and photographed by the school photographers, Freya Williams and Jake Allen.

Commissioner Salmon visited all the classes in the school and particularly enjoyed his time in the Butterflies Class, where he interacted with the children in some of their activities. He also enjoyed brushing up on his maths skills whilst visiting Year 4.

After finishing his tour, Commissioner Salmon went and spent some time with Year 6 to answer their questions and concerns about how they were affected by crime in their local community.

Year 6 questioned him about vandalism, speeding, noise disturbance from pubs, dog fouling, under-age drinking and youth intimidation.

Commissioner Salmon answered all of their questions and concerns with very detailed explanations and helpful information.

The pupils were also very reassured that he shared their opinion that more police presence in the community was key to reducing crime.

They also agreed with Commissioner Salmon that it was important for communities to have a close relationship with the police and that it is everyone's responsibility to keep their community safe and crime free.

Year 6 also asked Commissioner Salmon questions about his personal life and he answered their questions with plenty of enthusiasm. He told them all about how he got his job and how he had to be elected and do some campaigning in order to get it.

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed meeting Commissioner Salmon and found the experience really valuable and beneficial.

Later that day, Commissioner Salmon went to visit Saundersfoot Community Council and stated that he was 'incredibly impressed with the school, the pupils and all the preparation the children had put into their questions.'

School governor and community councillor Mrs. Mary Cavell added she was 'delighted and proud' to hear this.
