Penally Village Hall Committee is making every effort to get maximum use out of the hall by initiating a new programme of events for the summer and beyond. Of course it is important that the running costs of the hall are covered, but it is also important that the particular interests of the villagers are met.
Starting on Monday afternoons from 2 pm on March 16, a Penally Bridge Club will be established. If you are interested in playing bridge (from novice to expert) you will be welcomed and it will be run Chicago-style by Margaret Davies. For more information, ring Margaret on 844416.
On Thursdays, March 19 and 26, and April 2 and 9 from 3-4 pm, Olivia Argent will run Exercise Classes in the hall. Suitable for both men and women, these will constitute a four-week 'taster' session and everyone who attends must be prepared to pay for the four weeks in advance (£14 total). If enough people turn up, it will become a regular feature, with classes starting again in September. For information, ring Olivia on 843828.
For walkers of all ages, Tuesday, April 14, will be the inauguration of what the committee hopes to make an annual event, the St. Teilo's Walk Day. The guide on this occasion will be Kiri Howells, of Pembrokeshire National Park, and it will start and end at the Village Hall. Penally has been fortunate to have new walk maps printed by Planed and new way markers have been put in position.
Margaret Davies from Crackwell Farm, who wrote the most comprehensive history of Penally, called 'A Murder of Crows', will provide Kiri with some interesting historical notes and, on return to the hall, Margaret will be present to fill in any further information.
Refreshments will be provided for all and, even if you are unable to do the walk, you will be more than welcome to join at the hall from 3.30 pm onwards. So if you and your family fancy an interesting walk on the Tuesday after Easter, turn up but bring wet weather clothes and footwear if the weather is not kind.
The next Quiz Night is tonight (Friday) at 7.30 pm. Either book a table of four in advance or just turn up, on your own, with a friend or in a foursome.
For information on any of the above, you can ring any of these numbers: Marcia 842878, Judy 844467 or Linda 844727.
