A D-Day commemoration service led by Majors Martyn and Denise Clements and members of The Salvation Army, Tenby Corps, was held at Park House Court Nursing Home on Friday. The service also marked the last time that Majors Clements would be visiting Park House Court as they are moving out of the area. John Holland, of Park House, welcomed The Salvation Army and thanked them for their support over the last few years; leading worship in the home whenever asked. Residents joined in with favourite hymns such as 'Onward Christian Soldiers' and 'Jerusalem.' Joni Smith, of Park House, read a poem entitled 'Normandy' by Juno Beach veteran Cyril Crain. Park House resident Major Charles Bowles, of the Royal Artillery, read the 'Ode of Remembrance' by Laurence Binyon before The Last Post was played and two minutes silence observed. Matron Mandy Procter ended the service by again expressing her gratitude on behalf of the directors, staff and all residents of Park House Court to Majors Clements for all their support and friendship over the years. She wished them well for the future and presented them with a special cake made by chef Jeanette Robson from all at Park House.
