Saundersfoot Junior School children were the first to be introduced to the 'Chilly Swimmer' mascot.
The magnificent mascot, generously sponsored by Chevron, was made by the same company as Manchester United's 'Red Devil'.
All pupils in the school have been set a task to colour a poster and suggest a name for the 'Chilly Swimmer'.
The best coloured poster and the pupil that names the mascot will both receive book tokens.
The photograph shows the mascot in the company of Miss Lester, the headteacher, Miss Parker, Miss Nicholson and several pupils, together with Alison Kavanagh, of Chevron, and members of Saundersfoot Festivities, Roger Stephens and Martyn Williams.
Plans for the 2010 swim are well underway, and the new swim shirt will be unveiled in two weeks time. As in previous years, the profit from the sale of the shirt will be donated to breast cancer.
The 2010 swim will be the village's 26th. Last year's swim attracted 1,176 swimmers and raised in excess of £46,000.
