The 1st Kilgetty Scout Group's new tents were certainly put to the test at the Malvern Scout Camp, from June 25-27, as storms lashed down on Friday and Saturday evenings.

In fact, on the Saturday it rained most of the day. However, both teams from 1st Kilgetty Scouts did really well, this being only the second year they have taken part in this camp and 'The Malvern Challenge'.

Two teams entered, one coming 182nd and the other 57th. Over 400 teams of Scouts and Guides were at the camp.

Teams took part in an eight-mile hike, with many different challenges along the hike, including map reading, first aid and many others. All Scouts (and leaders) enjoyed the evening entertainment.

Well done to all the teams from Pembrokeshire who took part in the weekend. Maybe next year Kilgetty will get both teams in the top 50!

In doing the challenge they also completed the fitness challenge badge which the troop has been working on. Last Thursday, Scouts also finished the fire safety badge.

Many thanks to Mr. Stuart Payne from UK Fire Ltd., who helped Scouts with this badge; also to Haverfordwest Fire Brigade who hosted a visit from the group. Scouts are also close to finishing their guide badge.

Scouts look forward to summer camp and hopefully some sunshine when they go off for a week's activity camp in Hertfordshire.
