The official opening of the new Tenby Guide and Scouts Hall in Warren Street, took place on Saturday afternoon. Management and trustees were greatly honoured that it was led by Mrs. Gillian Clay, grand-daughter of Lord Baden Powell, founder of the Scouting movement. During a joyous afternoon of celebration and songs by Tenby Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs and Guides, Mrs. Gillian Clay paid tribute to the dedication and determination of all involved to enable this hall to open in the special centenary year of the Scouting movement. Mrs. Clay said that the spirit flame of 'Scouting and Guiding is here today and will live on in this Hall into the future'. She was delighted to cut the celebration cake with Gideon Petersen, highly renowned metal worker based in Llandisilio, who designed the metal gate at the entrance to the building embellishing the Scout and Guide emblems. They were joined by Margaret Peake, Brownie leader and vice-chairman and trustee, Jan Evans. The celebration cake was made by local cake making specialist, Alison Williams.
