Road improvement works currently taking place on a route in and out of Tenby were discussed by local councillors this week.
The junction at Upper Hill Park with Narberth Road in Tenby was closed early last week to make it safer to carry out improvement works on a section of the A4218/A478 road in and out of the town.
Pembrokeshire County Council recently secured funding to improve the junction on Narberth Road, by remodelling a section of the road, to include a mini roundabout.
The scheme will look to improve road and pedestrian safety at the junction by way of providing a more conventional and simplified layout to that currently found, and address traffic flow issues, turning movements, as well as introducing speed reduction benefits.
With the work scheduled to take 12 weeks to complete, and despite traffic causing congestion in and out of Tenby during peak times, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter praised the ‘speed’ of the work that the workmen were doing in getting on with the job.
She also asked if the town council could write to PCC to see if they would consider erecting bus shelters in that area as part of the scheme.
“School children travelling in and out of the town on some occasions are left really cold and wet waiting in that area, causing parents to wait with them in their vehicles, which has also caused a few problems with parking in that area,” explained Clr. Mrs. Rossiter.
