A new sponsorship deal has been announced for Pembrokeshire's Indoor Cricket League.
Nick Evans, proprietor of Narberth's cricket shop, has succeeded Martin James, of the Martin James Health Club, Kilgetty, who has sponsored the competition for the last 10 years.
Speaking to Observer Sport about the new sponsorship, County Cricket Club secretary Bill Marchant said: "Due to indifferent health, Martin James has decided to withdraw his sponsorship of the Indoor League. We offer him our thanks for his support during the last 10 years and we wish him well, together with good health in the future.
"We are fortunate in that we have a new sponsor for this event, which for the coming year will now be called Nick Evans, The Cricket Shop, Pembroke County Cricket Club Indoor League. Again we thank Nick for stepping in to continue the sponsorship of this league, which is thoroughly enjoyed by all those clubs taking part. This year should see the eventual winner playing in the all Welsh 'play-off' at Swansea, with the eventual winner going on to represent Wales in the national finals at Lord's."
Commenting on the sponsorship deal, Nick Evans said: "Having had a lifetime's enjoyment playing cricket, I would like to put something back into the game with this small contribution to county cricket in Pembrokeshire as I have done over a number of years.
"As the proprietor of the only cricket shop in the county, it is a pleasure to promote cricket in Pembrokeshire. I would like to see more teams involved in the Indoor League over a longer period than at present and it would be terrific if a Pembrokeshire side could reach the Welsh finals and go on to play at the indoor cricket centre at Lord's in the finals.
"The competition is an excellent way to start practising for the new season and to nurture young cricketers. It is well run as the organiser, Wendy Bradshaw, of St. Ishmaels, does a great job."
