SETTING a high standard of policing and providing the public with a quality service is one of the aims of Tenby's new police inspector.
Inspector Tim Hoad, who has recently taken up his post as inspector for the Tenby section, says he also looks forward to working with the local community through the Partnerships and Communities Together meetings.
"I want to listen to local people and hear their concerns," said Insp. Hoad.
"The public are very much our eyes and ears and I want to encourage the public to contact us with issues that affect the local community. It is about working together.
"I very much want to use community intelligence to drive the type of policing we have here in the Tenby area."
Insp Hoad continued: "It is also important local people know that I am always approachable and if there is an issue they feel they cannot discuss at a PACT meeting, then please come and see me at the station."
High visibility policing, tackling violent crime and ensuring Tenby is a safe place for people to live and work is also on Inspector Hoad's list of aims.
He also intends to work closely with the local licensees and promote the Behave or Be Banned scheme.
Brought up in Pembrokeshire, Inspector Hoad's police career began with West Midlands Police in 1992.
He served in a variety of roles until joining Dyfed Powys Police in 2001.
He worked in Pembrokeshire for a couple of years, before being transferred to the Carmarthenshire Division.
Again, he worked in a number of different departments, before taking on a neighbourhood police role in Llanelli and Carmarthen.
"And my work as a neighbourhood policing inspector is something that I would like to introduce into the Tenby area," said Insp. Hoad.
"I am also looking forward to carrying on the good work of my predecessor, Inspector Russell Smith," he continued.
"For me, it is nice to police an area where you live and where your friends and family live."
Forty-two-year-old Insp. Hoad is married with one son.
