Dyfed Powys Police Authority and the Chief Constable are pleased to announce that Mr. Andrew Edwards has been appointed as Assistant Chief Constable. He is currently Acting Assistant Chief Constable. Mr. Edwards joined South Wales Police in 1979 and served throughout South Wales in various ranks and at their headquarters. He transferred to Dyfed Powys Police in 1991, and has been responsible for the Carmarthenshire and Powys Divisions. In 1993, he worked in Washington DC with the FBI and in 1997 he was a visiting lecturer at the University of New York. He has a Masters in Criminal Justice. This follows the appointment of Mr. Barry Taylor as Deputy Chief Constable on September 21. Mr. Taylor has been with the force since 1999 when he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable. He joined the police service in 1975, and spent a substantial part of his career as a Detective Officer with the West Mercia Constabulary and the National Criminal Intelligence Service. He was the UK head of Interpol between 1993-1994 with particular responsibility for UK dependent territories in the Caribbean. The Chief Officer team for Dyfed Powys Police currently are Chief Constable Mr. Terence Grange, Deputy Chief Constable Mr. Barry Taylor, Assistant Chief Constable Mr. Andrew Edwards, and Director of Finance and Resources, Mr. Andrew Bevan.
