Pembrokeshire is getting six new PCSOs.

The new recruits are currently going through their training and will be out and about at around Christmas time.

New PCSO roles have been created in the neighbourhood policing teams in Haverfordwest rural, Milford Haven rural, Tenby and Pembroke Dock.

St. Davids and Crymych will now also have their own dedicated PCSOs where as previously there was only one PCSO between the two areas.

Chief Superintendent Dean Richards said: "As a direct result of the public telling us they want to see more patrols in their local areas, we have listened and invested a large part of our Divisional and Community Safety Partnership budget from the Welsh Assembly Government in providing new PCSOs for our neighbourhood policing teams.

"PCSOs carry out a vital role engaging with our communities and working with them to solve issues that the community identify as being important to their area."

The new PCSOs include Ben Cole, who will be the dedicated PCSO for Crymych. He is Welsh speaking and is fulfilling a lifelong ambition by joining the police.

Emma Thomas is an extra post for the Pembroke Dock team. She has recently been working as traffic warden in the town. She said: "I am looking forward to getting to know the community and making a difference."

Jim Moffatt will fill a vacancy in the Pembroke Dock team, while PCSO Mandy Goodland will be moving from Crymych and St. Davids to Tenby.
