United Utilities are to spend £56,000 on installing a new odour control system at the Gumfreston Treatment Works, it was revealed last week.

Continued complaints from residents of Tenby's Knowling Mead, Oakridge Acres, Serpentine Road and The Clicketts, over 'foul smells' coming from the treatment works prompted Tenby's Campaign for Clean Seas (TCCS) to call a meetingwith United Utilities, who now operate the site.

"They are aware they have a problem over smells from the works," TCCS chairman, Clr Michael Williams, told the Observer following the meeting.

"They have earmarked £56,000 for the installation of a new odour control system and will be starting work on site on July 16."

Clr. Williams said that United Utilities expected the work to be completed by the end of August.
