Tenby Town Council has co-opted another new member.
Seven candidates who had put their names forward for co-option, had all been invited to an extra ordinary meeting on July 9 at the Mayor’s Parlour.
There were five in attendance, with another withdrawing their application that evening. Each of those present was invited to the table to tell councillors a little bit about themselves and why they would like to be co-opted.
The Mayor proposed that the co-option be undertaken by written ballot. The successful candidate would require a substantive majority to be elected, gaining more votes than the combined total of all other candidates.
Following the ballot Mr Phil Spence obtained a substantive majority and was co-opted to fill the vacancy in the South Ward.
