And the whole event on Bank Holiday Monday was shouted to the world by town crier, Mr. John Thomas, who was also in attendance.
"Cancer Research UK has chosen our store to lead the way in raising its profile and extending its role in the community," said shop manager, Julia King Thomas.
"By improving its High Street presence, the charity hopes to pull in more funds for vital research and at the same time attract growing support from the local community.
"The charity's stronger corporate branding also emphasises that money spent in the shop goes towards vital cancer research. We want to show the customer very clearly where their money is going and why we need their continued support.
The refurbishment is hoped to attract more people to its doors as either donator, customer or volunteer."
Julia and the entire volunteer team are looking forward to welcoming supporters to their new-look store, and hope that the local community will go along to have a browse at the shelves and rails.
Julia added: "Now that the shop is an even brighter and more pleasant environment to be in, we're hoping that locals will spare just two to four hours per week to come along and help out as volunteers."
The shop especially needs people to help out on the shop floor, serving customers and working on the till. It's very simply really, and full training is given.
If you would like to help out in this way, just pop along to the Tudor Square store to meet Julia and the existing team, or give them a call on (01834) 845451.
