Thousands of pounds are being invested into the Tenby branch of Somerfield as part of a nationwide investment of £75 million in improving Britain's leading high street food retailer.

Tenby Avenue Centre have been set the challenge to design an Easter Poster and the winner will open the new-look store.

The refurbishments, costing nearly £500,000, include a complete redecoration, with extra lighting and fresh colours, giving the store a bright, fresh, modern appearance.

An extended range of quality fresh foods will be available, including a larger selection of produce and meat products.

The new look store will also offer a wide range of fresh sandwiches and snacks, ready meals and bread from the in-store bakery. Ready-chilled wine and beer will also be available from the wine-chiller.

Store manager Simon Hunt said: "We are very pleased with our new look store and I am confident that our customers will be delighted with the improvements. Somerfield is committed to being number one supermarket and I am sure that shoppers will discover some great new ranges of fresh food and ready meals at value prices.

"Somerfield aims to be the best local food store offering everything that customers want without the hassle of the large supermarkets. We want to let everyone know about our quality food and wine and make shopping easier for everyone."

"And we will continue to give shoppers excellent value across their entire weekly shop as well as offering our Megadeals promotions, featuring some fantastic half price promotions and buy-one-get-one-free deals."

Somerfield currently has over 590 stores and aims to invest and improve 200 in the next 12 months. The store will remain open throughout refurbishment and will formally relaunch on March 26.
