Double Vision
When bad or inexplicable things happen, we often wonder why? Is it something we or someone else did, are we being punished, tested? Do we throw harmful accusations, presuming we know the cause?
A man was born blind, he became a beggar. Considered an outcast in their society, the disciples asked Jesus, "Who sinned?" Jesus told them that no one sinned; this had happened so that God could demonstrate his power.
Rather unconventionally, and on the Sabbath, Jesus spat on the ground, formed clay and placed it on his eyes; the man could see!
Rather than being amazed the religious leaders wanted verification, quizzing the man and his family endlessly. Do we ever seek verification or deny God's work, calling it luck?
Finally, the religious leaders agreed the man was born blind. Totally dissatisfied with his explanation of events, they excommunicated him, branding Jesus a sinner for healing on the Sabbath! Jesus' ways did not fit into their traditions, constricting their vision of God.
What should have been a celebration became a nightmare! The man's world was miraculously transformed, but now he'd lost his identity. But this was not the end.
Hearing what happened, Jesus found the man, asking him if he knew who the promised Messiah was. Jesus told him "I am he!" Then the man worshipped Jesus, now he saw completely.
Consider this: the religious leaders were blind to who Jesus really was; but Jesus met this man, regarded as the lowest of the low, not only restoring his physical sight, he also granted him spiritual sight, he was one of few who saw Jesus was the long awaited Messiah!
God is always working out His will, despite all things. Sometimes we will never know what is going on, we may feel abandoned, but Jesus will find us, like the man in the story.
Seeing people can only see certain reflections of light; ultra violet and infra red rays are hidden from vision.
Do you see your full potential? Are you experiencing the fullness of life Jesus offers, or are circumstances or traditions blinding your view?
Jesus offers treatment to open our spiritual eyes; it's free and available for everyone, today. How's your vision?
