A convenience store in New Hedges has been able to give a donation to the local village hall through the ‘Making a Difference Locally’ charity.

New Hedges Village Hall chairman Howard Rawson-Humphries and committee members Pat Morgan and Christine Butland (pictured) were on hand recently to receive the donation of £100 from McColls store manager in New Hedges, Richard Johns.

The ‘Making a Difference Locally’ initiative saw customers purchase specific products in store, with a percentage of the money going into a virtual fund for the retailer and shopper to choose a local charity to donate to.

The chosen local cause had to be within 10 miles of the store and the Village Hall was the chosen beneficiary as it plays an integral part in the local community. £100 is also going to Saundersfoot Playgroup from the initiative.

“It really is wonderful that we have raised and donated money for such a local and worthwhile cause,” said McColl’s retail group chief executive officer, James Lancaster.

“McColl’s has always known to be charitable and we try our best to continually support the neighbourhoods in which we operate.

“This donation is another great example of our helpful and giving ethos. We believe it is important to give something back to our customers who support us and help raise money by purchasing specific products in store,” he added.
