On Saturday night local folk band, Razor Bill, got a huge welcome from a packed pub in Manorbier. It was squeezing-in room only at The Castle Inn for their gig, as customers listened to and joined in with the band's mixture of jigs and reels, old and 'new' folk songs... with a hint of American country and some singalong anthems.

It was only six months ago that the four guys - Peter, Matt, Simon and Graham - got together at Jameston Community Hall to sing and play a range of instruments, from guitars and banjo to accordian and concertina, whistle, bodhran and harmonica.

Then came a birthday gig or two, a couple of great sessions at Jameston's SwanLake Inn, and some songs and tunes at the story-telling evenings at Caffé Vista in Tenby.

The Castle was not only the first outing for their new backdrop, created for them by Ann Pullen, of Jameston. It was also the debut for Helen, Razor Bill's new fiddler. And judging by the comments from locals and visitors who had turned up and had a great evening, the mellow strains of the violin really added to the overall sound.

It's good to see a new local band on the scene - they're from Manorbier, Jameston and Lamphey - and they have launched their own website at http://www.Razor-Bill.co.uk">www.Razor-Bill.co.uk
