Autumn is here and the colours and temperature are changing - time to think about a winter fitness programme, including swimming in a warm pool, working out in a well-equipped and quiet fitness suite, followed by soaking in a hot-tub! A round of golf or a tennis match can also be part of your fitness regime.
The Celtic Haven Leisure Club has established a local reputation for excellence and has a new Leisure Club Fitness Professional, Iân (pronounced Yan) Morris (pictured).
Iân has a varied and interesting background. Born and educated in Carmarthen, he has lived in Saundersfoot for the last 17 years. He speaks fluent Welsh and graduated from Cardiff University with a BA in human movement studies, specialising in sport and leisure management, soccer, athletics and tennis.
Iân is a fitness enthusiast, who takes responsibility for his own health and fitness and enjoys helping others do the same. He is an athlete of renown, being a middle distance and cross country runner and he was a semi-professional footballer with Carmarthen Town and Bristol Manor Farm. He is currently the Second Team Captain of Saundersfoot Sports AFC.
Carol Kaye, who is in charge of PR for Celtic Haven, said: "We are very fortunate Iân has joined our team at Celtic Haven. We are continually striving for our facilities and service to be the best and pride ourselves on the quality of our resort.
"We have some exciting plans for the future. Iân is an important part of those plans and by appointing a new leisure club co-ordinator, we have taken another step in demonstrating our commitment to our guests and members."
Celtic Haven Leisure Club offers four-month and annual memberships, as well as day passes. Membership includes full use of the fitness suite and an initial induction with Iân, use of the indoor swimming pool, hot-tub and sauna, as well as their nine-hole 3/4 par golf course and tennis courts. Also included is a 50 per cent discount on the golf simulator where members can play some of the world's most famous courses.
Member privileges include 10 per cent off at 'Wales' most innovative spa' and Waves, a special restaurant with views of the cliffs and Caldey Island. This means, after a visit to the leisure club, members can enjoy a massage or other treatment in the spa followed by a delicious meal.
An additional benefit for leisure club members is they receive up to 25 per cent off on the luxury self-catering cottages at Celtic Haven's five-star resort.
Carol added: "Whether you want to obtain new fitness levels, spend quality time with your family or just relax after a hard day's work, this could be your special escape. We welcome members who prefer a 'gentle gym' and who would like to get fit at a more leisurely pace. This includes people who are embarking on a weight loss or fitness programme, as well as senior citizens and anyone who may need some initial coaching and ongoing support.
"Iân is fully qualified in gym instruction and can successfully instruct and supervise safe exercise, as well as design effective exercise programmes to suit an individual's personal needs. He can also offer personalised one-on-one training if that is required."
Iân said: "I am relishing the opportunity to lead the Celtic Haven Leisure Club into the next stage of development, with the aim of making it the top sporting venue in the area.
"I am keen to look after resort guests, our valued local members and encourage and welcome newcomers. I am looking forward to meeting prospective members and to showing them around and discussing their particular fitness needs. I'd be delighted to make an appointment to have a chat and a coffee or you can just drop by for an assisted tour of the facilities."
