PICTURED at the opening of the new art exhibition, New Directions by Roy Ayres at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, are honorary curator Mike Brew, Dennis Curry, who officially opened the show, artist Roy Ayres and chairman of the trustees David Hughes.

Roy has been painting for many years, having studied in London in the 1960s, finishing at the Royal Academy Schools in 1968.

By the mid-1970s, he moved away from painting, but found himself inextricably drawn back to it in the 1980s.

His exhibition features many new works revealing a change in style.

Roy states: "I have always seen painting as being on a kind of journey of discovery and now that my work has changed direction and has become abstract in nature - the journey continues afresh, although even now I am never able to totally ignore being influenced by the landscape."

This sales exhibition features 40 works dating from 1991 to 2008. The show runs until February 6. For further details, contact Tenby Museum on (01834) 842809 or at [email protected]">[email protected]
