Pembroke Town Council is pleased to announce that the two vacancies that arose following the recent resignations of Clrs. David Perry and Ian Williams have been filled following the decision to co-opt Mr. Dennis Evans and Mr. David Boswell onto the council.

Six applications were considered at a recent council meeting and, following interviews, Clr. Evans was co-opted to represent the St. Michael ward, with Clr. Boswell elected to represent Pembroke St. Mary (North).

It now brings the council membership back to its full complement of 15 councillors.

Clr. Evans was born in Tenby and following his education at Greenhill School he qualified as a teacher at Newland Park Teacher Training College and subsequently taught at a school in Hounslow.

On returning to Pembrokeshire, he was employed at Pembroke Power Station and prior to his retirement in 2004 was the Training Team Leader at Texaco Refinery, where he was employed for 23 years. His hobbies include golf and short mat bowls.

After his co-option, Clr. Evans said: "I'm very interested in local politics and delighted to have the opportunity to put something back into the Pembroke community and help to shape its future."

Clr. Boswell is a well-known personality, being actively involved with the Royal British Legion and has represented the local branch at the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

On leaving school, David joined the 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Wales and saw service in Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Canada and Germany.

He undertakes the role of parade marshal at Remembrance Day parades and civic events. His hobbies include breeding and keeping horses, and he is currently employed as a coxswain based at Valero Refinery.

Following his election, Clr. Boswell said: "I'm proud to serve the community of Pembroke and will serve the people of Pembroke to the best of my ability."

In welcoming both councillors, the Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Aden Brinn, commented: "Councillors had a very difficult task in deciding which applicants to co-opt onto council.

"I'm delighted to welcome both David and Dennis and I look forward to working with them," he added.
