Family and friends of the late Oliver Morgan, a keen young local sportsman who tragically passed away last July, have over the past few months been fund- raising in his memory and have helped establish a memorial fund in Ollie's name.

'The Oliver Morgan Memorial Fund' is now set up, with a small committee in place to decide which children's and sporting charities or organisations to support.

It is expected to make donations at about the time of Ollie's birthday in November.

The fund has been set up with the full support of Ollie's family, who live in Kilgetty - parents Richard and Sue, and sisters Hannah and Harriet, who wish to thank all those who have contributed to the fund so far. The fund is being held at the Abbey National Bank in Tenby's High Street.

Ollie, who was 18-years-old when he died, was very well known in sporting circles across Pembrokeshire.

At the time of his death he was a player for Carew AFC, regularly turning out for the first team, and had also squeezed in a semi-final match for Tenby RFC Youth. Ollie was also playing for Pembrokeshire College in Haverfordwest where he was a sports science student.

In thanking people for their support of the memorial fund, mention must be made of Mr. Dennis Reed and his Hunt Week Committee. The Charity Night held at the RAOB Club in Kilgetty last year raised a superb £1,750 and Dennis has increased this terrific amount with contributions from his famed after-dinner speaking.

A huge 'thank you' from Ollie's family goes to all involved with the South Pembrokeshire Hunt and all who gave so generously on the night.

"It is our hope that from the tragic loss of our son some good may come and you are assured that every penny received will go to benefit children's charities and local sport," said Ollie's parents, Richard and Sue.
