'The Coshopper', a new bus service for Cosheston, is to be launched by Silcox Coaches on Friday, October 5. It will provide a vital link for the community of Cosheston to its nearest town, Pembroke Dock.
Running every Friday, it will leave the Cross in Cosheston at 10.10 am calling at Tesco, Gordon Street, Laws Street, Albion Square, South Pembs Hospital and Bethany.
The return journey will leave South Pembs Hospital at 12.45 and follow the same route home, arriving at the Cross in Cosheston at 13.05.
The service is the result of new County Clr. Tessa Hodgson acting on feedback received during her election campaign.
She said: "While campaigning on the doorstep and talking to the people of Cosheston many of them raised the issue of the lack of public transport to the village. When I investigated the matter further, I was struck that such a large and vibrant community was without any form of regular bus service.
"Following my election, I contacted Simon Rees, Pembrokeshire County Council's public transport officer. He suggested I speak to Mr. Bert Dix of Silcox to see if anything could be done. When I spoke to Mr. Dix, he was most helpful and put forward the idea of a Friday Shopper Service."
Clr Hodgson said: "I would urge the community of Cosheston to make use of this new service and if it proves popular it may be possible to add more days to the timetable"
